Jamess posted a great diary this morning about the rebound in blue whale populations. It's a great diary post and here is the link if you missed it:

I was honored to be present of So Cal (0+ / 0-)
to see 3 blues, a fin, and a couple humpbacks - along with HUNDREDS of dolphins - last fall off Dana Point. Just amazing.

If you never been to Dana Point for whale watching, you should think about making the trip. For some reason, Dana Point, located in southern Orange County (warning: lots of right wingers behind the Orange curtain) is a great place to watch all of these amazing animals. They seem to come closer into shore at this point on the coastline and they put on quite a show.
Captain Dave's Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari offers an amazing experience watching these majestic animals so if you are ever in town, give it a try. And just so you know, I do not know anyone who is employed at Captain's Dave's nor do I have a financial interest in this company.
In the meantime, watch this video of blue whales, gray whales and a megapod of dolphins. The blue whales are the first part of the video; at 2:08 the gray whales are filmed and at 4:27 you can see the pods of dolphins. All footage is shot from a drone so the video is absolutely stunning. You see these animals in a very different way. But it really shows how enormous blue whales actually are.
