Remember 2008. Yeah, we all came out to vote excited about the future and what good things were to come. Sweeping away all of the bad, the very bad things of the past administration.
Then came the healthcare debate. I personally thought the president was wrong to start with healthcare. I would have gone with jobs. He saw it as a job creator in addition to just providing healthcare. Then all hell broke loose and you know the rest. We ended up with a bill that nobody was happy with, although it did get about 8 million covered. How many do you thing the republicans would have covered? Let me hazard a guess... somewhere around ZERO? So our collective response was not voting in 2010 and letting the wackos take over because the president couldn't deliver 100% of what we wanted. We punished him and by extension ourselves. We walked away from the guy and still expected miracles.
What followed? About 50 ACA repeal votes, endless abortion votes, a government shutdown, debt ceiling crisis I and II, massive cuts in social spending, sequestration, no extension of unemployment benefits etc, etc, etc. With no democratic majority in the house we still can't figure out why things can't get done. You want action on immigration from a bunch of people who are afraid of every color except white. THEY HAVE HAD THE BILL FOR A YEAR AND STILL HAVE NOT BROUGHT IT TO THE FLOOR. Obama is the quarterback, not the whole team. Give him 20 or 30 more players in the house and you'll see immigration reform done in a week. Without a team to support him expect NO WINS EVER.
Let me give you another example in the form of a miracle. I have been praying,in church, along with my congregation for world peace. We have been making the same petition to God for the past 60 years. Now you think the guy with all the power in the universe could deliver, wouldn't you. He doesn't need a team, he is a solo act. No compromises, no debates, no votes, no elections. Yet, 60 years later, no peace, and arguably things go a lot worse.
So, come November, I will vote for a democrat. Why? Because of Social Security, unions, minimum wage, overtime, child labor, unemployment insurance, medicare, medicaid, civil rights and the list goes on and on.
Now, what have the republicans done for us lately? and by that I mean ever? NOTHING. So I will always vote for the democrat any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
If you want your next savior to be Hillary, Bernie or Elizabeth you need to set the table for them in 2014. Or, just vote them in in 2016 and then pull the chair out from under them in 2018. The republicans will do what they always have done. Run you down and blame you for being in their way.
