This is a series of diaries highlighting animal rescues around the country and noting and celebrating the work they do to help animals who have no voices but ours to speak for them. I have decided to make this a daily series because there are so many wonderful rescues out there who need human help and weekly just doesn't seem to be enough. I have long wanted to start a rescue but lack the resources or time available to do so right now so this is my attempt to do my part. I hope that these rescues will benefit from the kindness and benevolence of the community here at Daily Kos. They are amazing organizations and worthy of Kossack attention and care.
Does she know all
The meaning of life
The secret behind love
The sagest of guides
Is she the answer
To any problem posed
She sits so serene
What worlds does she know
Can she see past life
When she looks at the sky
She gazes into my soul
With those glowing green eyes
Does she understand
What dark matter is
Is the love that she gives
The greatest of gifts
Some would say she's just a cat
But I know the truth
She's the wisdom of ages
In a purring cat suit

Who We Are:
In 2009 Marcia Scott’s minister discovered abandoned kittens living behind his house in Guilderland Center. As so many others have done in the past, the minister turned to Marcia for advice and help with the kittens. Unfortunately, this story is not unique because in the surrounding localities near Albany, New York alone, there are hundreds of abandoned and/or abused animals.
This was the beginning of Happy Cat Rescue.
As more people contacted Marcia for help, it was obvious there were a growing number of felines in need of assistance and care. In addition to the needs of the kittens and cats, often their owners needed a helping hand, guidance, and education on the welfare of their companion pets.
Although Marcia and her husband, Chuck had been rescuing and re-homing needy kitties for more than 20 years, the continual growth of those in need helped them realize there was more responsibility and work than they could handle alone. Being involved with other rescue groups, networking, and dealing with multiple cat hoarding situations secured their vision that would allow them to fill a need in their community.
Therefore, in September 2011, Happy Cat Rescue Inc. was formed for the purpose of helping out stray cats, abused cats, abandoned cats and cats who could no longer receive proper care from their owners. In 2011 alone Happy Cat Rescue Inc. was able to find loving, forever homes for more than 50 rescued cats and assisted in the adoption process for many others. Happy Cat Rescue Inc. is directly involved in rescuing and placing abused, unwanted, and abandoned cats and kittens.
Happy Cat Rescue Inc. requires that all kittens and cats are tested for FIV/FELV before they are allowed to join the rest of the group. They are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all necessary medical treatment before they are available for adoption to carefully screened adopters.
Happy Cat Rescue Inc. hopes to help raise the public’s awareness on the plight of homeless felines and educate people on the benefits of adopting an animal from a rescue group or a shelter.
Happy Cat Rescue Inc. refers pet owners to locations where they can receive low cost spay or neuter services.
As Happy Cat Rescue Inc. expands, the goal is to have a formal shelter environment to better serve the local feline community.
In December 2012, Happy Cat Rescue Inc. received its 501(c)(3) status.
Trixie
My name is Trixie. I’m a 1 year old, adorable kitty with 5 kittens already. I was rescued by a truck driver a few months ago. When I was rescued, I was in poor condition but very friendly.
I am FIV/FELV negative, spayed and up to date on all age appropriate shots. Even though I was feral, I am a very sweet, lovable girl who just wants a home. Would you make my dreams come true and take me home to my forever home?

Provide food and water twice daily
Clean litter box as needed

Happy Cat Rescue, Inc. needs foster parents to provide a home environment for our kittens and cats until they find their forever homes. Some kittens only need a few days of help, some need a few weeks; some may never leave your couch!
“Foster Failures” are not bad people
Local shelters and rescues aren’t able to provide the one on one nurturing that all kitties deserve. If you can provide a small, safe living area and can spare an hour a day, our kitties need YOU.
Kittens need people with BIG HEARTS, not big wallets. Each kitten you foster is a kitten saved. You can help change the world for a kitten – become a foster today.
~Snuggles and purrs are always welcomed~

CASSIE THE CAT
is full of fun and she likes to do crazy things. This morning she was roller skating around her owner's home when she spotted a mouse!
Whoops!
Cassie crashed head- first into a wall and the next thing she knew she was sitting on her tail with a big white bandage on her nose! Nurse Nibbles knows that lots of fussing and cuddling will make Cassie feel better and so will stroking her head and telling her how much she is loved. Soft cuddly Cassie will cheer up anyone, especially a cat lover who isn't feeling up to snuff (or whose favorite kitty isn't well.)
PEPI THE PUPPY
is not a happy camper! This morning he was out chasing rabbits and having a good old time when he tripped over his long floppy ears and tumbled head-over-heels down a big, long hill! Now, he's not feeling great but he's come to the right place to get well! Nurse Nibbles' prescription for Pepi recommends that his owner tell him how much he is loved while stroking his long, velvety ears. Soon he will be good as new! Pepi is the perfect "get well" gift for dog lovers who are under the weather or whose favorite puppy is not feeling well!
[This looks like a job for RIPLEY]
RIPLEY TO THE RESCUE
Ripley, a cute little 6" soft toy, looks out the window of his "forever home " where he has found safety and happiness after a rough life on the streets. He is ever-alert to the dangers that other pets may be in and ready to run to the rescue if he is needed! Ripley is accompanied by a 32-page, 7.75" x 5.5" soft-cover book, "Ripley to the Rescue," which lets us in on the secret of his SuperPowers!
[Me favorite vegetable is Arrrrrrrrr-tichokes]
GUINEA PIG PIRATE GREENBEARD
stands 8" tall and is crafted of luxurious soft plush. He is carefully detailed to be true to the story from his shiny black gardening boots to his purple felt pirate's hat, embroidered in gold with the symbol of his ship, "The Golden Lettuce", and finished off with a jaunty lettuce leaf feather.
He is packaged with a softcover, 32-page book, "Greenbeard the Pirate Pig," in a shipshape seaworthy box.

It just goes to prove, as Gigi discovers when she goes to Dr. Kidder for a checkup...the GIGGLES are contagious and if everyone caught them, the world would become a much happier place!
Gigi is a gift of happiness ... what could be nicer?
