People would like you better, Andrew, if you transacted like a Democrat.
Um,
what?
[Working Families Party Gov. Andrew Cuomo] said the voters who opposed him were not doing so out of unhappiness with his economic centrism or his broader philosophy. Rather, he said they wanted something from him — for instance, a more favorable contract, in the case of a union of state workers that endorsed Ms. Teachout.
“Don’t call them Democrats or liberals,” the governor said. “This is not about an ideology. It’s about a transaction.”
Alright, I'm busting out the pen and paper...
Dear Andrew Cuomo,
You say you underperformed in the polls because it was about "a transaction." No shit, Sherlock. Democrats wanted things from you. Like respect for public schools and public transit, economic populism, and a refusal to give Republicans the Senate majority when it was Democrats who had won the chamber. They wanted clean government, not Cuomo-protected corruption, a higher minimum wage, and a millionaire's tax to fund pre-K education.
In other words, a significant chunk of Democrats wanted you to transact state business as a Democrat, not a Lieber-seque plutocrat. Why? Because of their ideology. When it comes to being a good Democrat, You fail the test.
On the other hand, the people who voted for you didn't do so out of ideology. They did because of your daddy's last name. How much did you have to spend in the primary and still failed to get out of the 50s? Not even money can buy you love.
But please, please, please remain as deluded as you pretend to be today. Please run for president. We haven't had this good of a villain since Joe Lieberman, and it would be hilarious to watch you crash and burn. Heck, your lame excuses alone will be worth the price of admission.
Hugs and kisses, kos
