So Rep. Jack Kingston of Georgia wants President Obama to decide what to do about ISIS/ISIL and then have Congress weigh in on whether they like it or not later ("We can denounce it if it goes bad, and praise it if it goes well and ask what took him so long.”), kind of like the Olympic judges judging a figure skater's routine. Really?
Is this the same attitude that is suing Obama for acting on his own? Are the congressional representatives Mr. Kingston refers to the same ones who were elected to 'make government small enough to drown in a bathtub?' Who would rather obstruct than govern?
This is what governing is about. It's about making the hard decisions, not phoning them in and voting on whether you like them later. It's about making decisions in real time. It's about not shirking your responsibility to the country you swore to protect and defend. It's about doing the job you are paid by taxpayers, all of us, to do. Not just the ones that elected you. All of us. By the people. For the people. Now. When all you have is the best available information.
Not later after the figure skater sticks the landing.
