South Carolina Congressman Mark Sanford (R-Trail Mix), the man who turned 'hiking the Appalachian Trail' into GOP-speak for 'cheating on your wife' has broken his 6 year engagement to María Belén Chapur in a Facebook post.
Classy.
And he only took 2,343 largely comma-free words to do it. That is considerably more words than it took Paul Simon to outline 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover. Roughly 10 times as many words, in fact.
Evidently, everything in S. Carolina is so copacetic that Sanford has time on his hands.
While the low-income residents of Sanford's state suffer because S. Carolina refuses to accept Medicaid expansion and while S. Carolina has the 5th highest rate (27%) of child poverty in the nation (tied with Arizona, Georgia, Alabama and Kentucky), it must be comforting to know that Sanford has got his priorities straight.
