Vikings place Peterson on exempt list, must stay away from team while legal process unfolds.
With a pattern of abusing children, Adrian Peterson`s has been thrown for a loss after new allegations show he once before caused injury to another of his children.
(A)-- After a day of public pressure from angry fans and concerned sponsors, the Minnesota Vikings have reversed course and placed star running back Adrian Peterson on the exempt-commissioner's permission list, a move that will require him to stay away from the team while he addresses child abuse charges in Texas.
Earlier, as the Vikings were trounced by the New England Patriots in the season opener 30-7 as Adrian Peterson was deactivated for that game Vikings owners said that they had done the right thing-- to activate the child abuser Adrian Peterson for this coming Sunday game with the New Orleans Saints.
The Vikings made the announcement early Wednesday morning, about a day and a half after initially deciding that Peterson could play with the team while the legal process played out. Peterson is charged with a felony for using a wooden switch to spank his 4-year-old son and now could miss the rest of the season while the case proceeds through the court system.
There is no doubt in my mind that Adrian Peterson is a great running back for the Vikings and perhaps the best there ever was in my time of watching this game. At first glancing at the child abuse charges and viewing the photos of the child, I was disgusted and begin to feel nothing but dislike for Adrian Peterson.
Then new allegations surfaced that the great running back had a history and a pattern of punishing his children with abuse. He claims that has no doubt that he is not a child abuser. I respect his defense, but if I have ever had a dislike for Authoritative parenting, a parenting style characterized by strict rules, harsh punishments and little warmth - I am an authority in receiving this type of parenting.
Some including Peterson claims that his style of punishment is out of love, to make a man of his his son. That was before the new allegations surfaced of his pattern of authoritative parenting surfaced. I say bullshit to anyone who claims or want to defend Peterson that he did not commit child abuse on his son. After watching the photos of the child`s whip latches scars, that according to reports, were about a week old I could not help but wish that what has now happened to Adrian Peterson and his role as a player would materialize.
You can push back at me all you want, but I have documented diaries here at Daily Kos that gives me the stage to bring my own experiences to you of being abused as a child. Early in my writings here I mostly wrote about how I was beaten senseless almost by a grown up that was supposedly in my care to protect me.
I have even read in some instances that Adrian Peterson`s type of parenting helps a child grow up to be a man, obey his elders and so forth. I too say bullshit to that.
An abuse child is planted in his mind a sense of anti authority and hates everything that a grown person tell him to do under threats of punishment. An abuse child, and I mean most abused children grow up to be anti-social and have difficulties adjusting in school and grows up to be into crimes, and wage anger against authority.
I can attest to this fact.
As I said, Adrian Peterson is a great running back, perhaps the best today. But as a parent and husband, as I have read recently he lacks the skill he uses on the field of play. Playing a different game with children he will lose every time. So it was good news to me today when I read that he must stay away from the vikings and football as well.
I salute those who think child abuse is a crime. I just hope he can defend himself in a court of law back in Texas. Oh boy!
