Pamena's Report on All the Things:
Lots of fun stuff to report on this week. First, last Thursday, Team RP, with several guildies subbing in for various regulars on break, decided to tackle normal mode Siege with mostly alts. It was fruitbasket-turnover night - Thanael brought his rogue, Pamena tanked on Parsifale, Rubi brought his hunter, Lynera brought his priest, Corwynn brought his mage, and Voban brought....well, Voban! When Corwynn's internet connection started going wonky, Xoff who was hanging in Mumble with us came in to tank and Taklok graciously switched to DPS. It was pretty smooth, got through the first wing without much difficulty, so tonight we're going to try the second wing and see how that goes with our alts.
Since Team RP did not host a flex on Thursday, to the disappointment of several, and since I was running Saturday Night Massacre this past week, I decided to do a flex that night, continuing from where Tuesday's flex left off. We'd had a few weeks of only being able to get Shaman and Nazgrim down in the "flex continuation" run, so I asked people to bring a few more higher powered toons, and it went very smoothly this time - we got Shaman, Nazgrim, Malkorok, Spoils and Thok down, so extremely successful SNM, and a lot of fun was had.
Finally, Monday, we returned to heroic TOT, to meet up again with heroic Tortos who had kicked our butts pretty good two weeks ago - this time, we meant business and brought main toons or equally high powered alts, and that did the trick. We got through the 2nd wing of TOT - Tortos, Megaera and Ji-Kun. On the last, we spent about 10 minutes discussing strategies from the various guides (pro tip - do not consult Icy Veins on these heroic modes, their advice essentially consists of "Kill all the things"), before Rubidium said, why don't we just try killing this bird without worrying about strategy. And we did - it was pretty easy, actually. Of course, then we ran into another reality check when we started the 3rd wing with Durumu, the eyeball-maze guy - there were a few new mechanics that we probably can't ignore, so we didn't get him that night, but we got fairly close, so if people are up to keep going with this, we'll try again on Sept. 29th.
Next Monday, it's our continuing 25-person Siege, starting with the 3rd wing and Malkorok. I'm hoping the timing will work out so that our last 25 will be just before the patch drops in October (betting seems to be either Oct. 7 or 14) - if Team Z hasn't gotten Garrosh down before that date (although I'm sure they will, this is just a fallback strategy), we will do a 25 with all of them (including their regular subs), plus as many of Team Kaels and Team RP folks as can fill out the roster, so we can assist them in getting the Ahead of the Curve achievement.
Lots of Blizzard news this week that I assume Moody will talk about in the diary [Editor's note: Nope], but one thing I was happy to see is that we'll be able to change our toons new faces in the barbershop in game, for a modest amount of gold. That should help ease the transition to the new models.
