Imagine a world where the Koch brothers and others like them run our country. Imagine a world where employees have no rights; they cannot collective bargain for better wages, benefits, or retirement. In this world workers are paid what their employers decide they want to pay and the employee has no right to due process. This version of America is a nation where wealthy billionaires, those who toil in various industries, they decide what is best for the environment; what is acceptable discharge levels of toxic pollutants into our air and water. These wealthy elite are allowed to play scientist, telling the rest of us that climate change is nothing more than a hoax, and that "God" determined during creation that climate change, no matter how radical, is normal.
Despite the fact that about 50% on any given election cycle does not adhere or buy into anything that these plutocrats are selling, we are forced to simply live with their jaded and often comical version of reality. Why, because the other half, who when compared to us, are basically the same, they believe whole heartedly in the crap they are being sold by the right. Amazing isn't it, these people who support this radical agenda are almost the mirror version of us. They make about the same level of income, they live in the same neighborhoods, they drink the same water and breath the same air. We can only assume they want the same things as the other half; economic security; stable economic conditions; clean air and water; workplace protections like overtime, injury coverage, the right to collective bargain for a better deal, basically security for their families; it is only logical that they want to live in a world where hard work and dedication are rewarded, just as our half does; they must want their children to have a good education and the chance to make a better life for themselves, just as our half does.
Why then are they so adamantly opposed to electing representatives who will work to deliver those very things that we all desire. The truth is frightening; the GOP of today has hitched their wagon to representing the 1 percent, period. Those who are simple enough or uneducated or even ignorant might be easily fooled, but God forbid that almost half of our population fits that bill. The proof that the GOP is all about the wealthy is easy to find, you just have to open your eyes and look for it. The wealthiest among us, the billionaires and multi-millionaires have never had it better; all one must due to verify the truth off this statement is look at the income growth and profits of both the wealthy elite and corporate America over the past 6 years. While the working person struggled to get by, they were making record profits and seeing unprecedented income growth.
The GOP, through their media pundits like Limbaugh. Beck, and the rest of those minions, have sold the right a sack of shit. blame Obama, deflect from the truth, don't look at the facts, because they would enrage anyone with even a little grey matter between their ears. Obama is spending our children into destitution they claim; despite the fact that of our 17 plus trillion in national debt, over 12 trillion of it belongs to three republican Presidents, 2 Bushes and Reagan. The economic collapse, our second great Depression belongs to the GOP, Obama was simply here to clean up their mess; a mess mind you that could have been handled better, with just a little cooperation from the right. Instead of doing what they were elected to do, represent "all" the American people, they declared war on our first "black" President. Their word from day one were not, "lets work together to help the American people", they were "lets make this Muslim non citizen a one term President".
The GOP, not the Dems, shut down government, voted over 50 times to defund the ACA (Obamacare) and the GOP not the Dems, supported a budget that cut VA funding for our soldiers healthcare by 149 billion dollars over 10 years. In fact, the GOP voted to cut virtually every program that provides a safety net, while at the same time voting to increase the tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans How almost half of a population that is basically a mirrored version of the other half can support a party whose agenda is unquestionably designed to protect and enhance the lives of only 1 percent, it defies reason and logic.
What America will end up looking like is the reality version of the "Hunger Games" if the agenda of the GOP is allowed to become law. Who will they blame then, will it still be the black guys fault? The facts are indisputable, the math does not lie or play partisan politics; America is on the verge of losing the thing that made it great, the middle class. Perhaps that should be the driving force and the issue of the day when election day comes; we are not simply voting for a party, we are voting for our way of life.
