In the last couple of hours, I read a blog post by NOM accusing Oregon Attorney-General Ellen Rosenblum of "collusion" with the plaintiffs in the Oregon marriage case. The post is no longer on their blog.
I'm not sure what they are intending to do with it. One reason that they might have taken it down is that they referred to Rosenblum as "Rosenberg", which is just a completely wrong statement of her name.
From what I recall, here's what they said:
They filed court documents forcing Rosenblum to release internal communications of the case.
The communications revealed that she and the plaintiffs were communicating many months before the lawsuit was filed, that she encouraged the plaintiffs to broaden their claim, that she encouraged the court to use a more stringent standard of review than rational basis review, and others.
They have asked the Ninth Circuit to reinstate the marriage ban.
They said that she should have defended the ban, as 57% of voters supported it. They called for her to be held accountable "in the court of public opinion."
They concluded with "[h]er public actions have been shameful."
I don't know what exactly NOM will do while the blog post is down. They may be changing it and putting it back up, or they may take it down for good. I don't know what they may be changing, although I suspect it's their misstatement of Rosenblum's name. I don't think that it is, at this stage, evidence of wanting to whitewash history, but it's still interesting. I'll keep reading their blog to see what happens.
7:04 PM PT: The post has still not be reinstated, even after many hours later. To me, this is bigger than just getting the Attorney-General's name wrong.
7:25 PM PT: While the post has been scrubbed from the blog, the text of the post has not been scrubbed from Google searches. By googling what I remember when I saw it, I've been able to recover some of what was written. I will post it as soon as I recover as much as possible.
8:36 PM PT: Courtesy of Before It's News, I've got it entirely. I have posted the statement on a new diary:
