Welcome to Street Prophets Sunday All Day Brunch. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. I have lived in several places where the storms both rain, lightening, or snow have been severe. I think the worse places for storms were when I lived north of Chicago. Midwest thunderstorms can be scary especially since often times they are accompanied by tornadoes. Of course I should be a veteran of tornadoes since one hit the other side of town the day I was born.
We get some pretty good thunderstorms here in North Carolina. We also got a fair amount of snow this last winter. Of course compared to Chicago and Denver I didn't think anything of it. Reid has lived all his life in California. He isn't used to snow or thunderstorms so when they hit he will go outside and watch. Pixie and I prefer the hide and hope it goes away approach to storms. I will curl up on the bed and read or knit so she can cuddle close to me until the storms go away.
One of the weirdest storms I experienced was when I was living in Denver. It had been 78°F in the morning when I left for work at the Tattered Cover book store. Around one o'clock a customer came in and said it was snowing. We thought he was joking at first until we looked outside. The storm killed thousands of trees and closed the zoo for the first time in 25 years. Of course I only had on a t-shirt, jeans, and a light jacket. Needless to say I was freezing by the time I got home.
Shortly after I move to Indiana to take care of my Mom we had a ferocious thunderstorm. Suddenly the tornado sirens went off. I took a look at the sky and it had a green tinge to it. I grabbed my cat Merlin and Mom and the cat and I headed for the basement. Mom said she didn't know whose eyes were bigger mine or the cat's. How about you? Do you watch storms or wish they would go away? Let us know some of the storms you have experienced.
Here is a few of my pictures that I've done over the years based on storms.
