Good morning! Welcome to the DKos Sangha weekly open thread.
This is an open thread for members of the DKos Sangha and others who are interested in discussions concerning how we integrate our progressive political activism into our spiritual practice. If you have observations about the political discourse of the week, or about practice, or about anything else related to walking a spiritual path through the political world, if you wish to share, or if you seek support, or if you simply want to say hello, please do; this space is for you.
If you would like to write a diary for the DKos Sangha, please let me know.
If you care nothing for spiritual practice and only wish to denigrate and disparage, please do so elsewhere, and respect that this is a community diary for the DKos Sangha.

The spiritual path can have twists and turns, and often it may feel like one is losing ground rather than making progress; but it does continue to take one deeper into the stillness, deeper into the truth of our being.
I am often surprised when some truth about this path I'm on suddenly becomes clear; when some pattern of thinking about a particular aspect of my life loosens, and is seen through. Some patterns take more time to discern than others; they are like koans, knots to be untied, taking time and patience, and a willingness to not know until that which they hide is revealed.
But the further along the path one travels, the greater the clarity and peace.

Dawn is approaching; the darkness outside my window is gradually giving way to light.
I awoke early this morning. After several days of sleeping later than usual; the body was apparently caught up on the rest that it needed and woke me up fully rested much earlier than I anticipated. And it is nice to sit here in this early morning quiet, sipping coffee, while the silhouettes of trees appear out of the darkness.
It is in these moments, found outside our normal routines, that we are afforded opportunities to see from a different perspective; to look into the mystery, to appreciate the awesome beauty of a new day on this planet, to feel more deeply into this human body, to open more fully into the experience of being.

Wherever you are on your journey, in this moment, however your day has unfolded, bringing you to this place, this point in time, whatever your experience of this moment is, allow a movement within to open the heart. You might find some resistance arising just in the reading of those words, and that's okay. That resistance comes from the conditioning imposed upon us by the culture within which we have been born and raised. So, it's okay that we feel a resistance to opening the heart. So be gentle; be compassionate. And allow, gently, compassionately, with understanding, and tenderness, a movement within to open the heart.
Breathe; feel. Let go of all stories, thoughts, and labels. Just feel whatever you are feeling. If there is resistance, feel that. If the resistance fades, allow a deeper opening. If there is a warmth, feel that.
Breathe into the heart; feel into the heart.
Opening the heart is transformative. It is essential. But for many of us, there can be a lot of resistance. And if so, then take your time and feel your way. The truth of your being lies beneath the conditioning that covers over the heart. The deeper you move into the heart, the more apparent this will become.
Namaste

You are welcome to join us each week in our Monday night group meditation here at DKos Sangha. This online group meditation is hosted by Ooooh, and the diary is posted at 7:00 Eastern. So that we are able to be together for as many here at Daily Kos as wish to participate, the meditation period runs from 7:30 to 10:00 Eastern. This group sitting is open to beginners and advanced, and is not restricted to any particular traditions or practices. It is not expected that you sit for the entire period; sit for as long as you like, when you like. The idea is that we are here together; supporting each other, holding space for each other.

Enjoy your day!
