The walking conservative disaster-on-the-plains, Gov. Sam Brownback, has a new theory as to why the "mainstream media" and the "liberal left" want him to fail so badly—because his tax cuts are doing so amazingly well. From an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network:
Governor Sam Brownback: “I think they [the mainstream media] want what’s happening in this state to fail that they’re shopping for a factual setting to back that up because it’s working.”
Governor Sam Brownback: I think the left is just so desperate. They want this model to fail so bad that they can’t wait for it to and they just want to get me electorally before we get on through this and prove that this is working.
No, Gov. Brownback, it's not only NOT working, it's a disaster of epic proportions. His policy of tax cuts have
cratered the Kansas economy, with tax revenue plummeting by 45 percent. They've created a
$300 million revenue shortfall, caused Standard & Poor to
downgrade Kansas' bond rating, and been blamed for an
an uptick in child poverty rates in Kansas.
The tax cuts are not only failing to create new jobs in the state, Kansas job growth remains less than half of the national average.
So far, the labor numbers show, Kansas hasn't added any more jobs than would have been expected otherwise during the national recovery, with or without the tax cuts, and some would argue it has grown less. Meanwhile, according to the Kansas Legislature's own research department, the loss of revenue resulting from the tax cuts are projected to put the state general fund in a deep financial hole by fiscal year 2017.
Finally, taking to Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network to blame the so-called liberal media is straight out of half-term Governor Sarah Palin's failbook. The "left is so desperate to see this model fail" Brownback said. Everything about this interview screams fail, Gov. Brownback.
Kansas voters are looking for moderation. That is something time and time again Gov. Brownback has proved he's incapable of when governing.
Gov. Brownback is right about one thing. We are out to get him electorally. But it is only because he's been a disaster for Kansas from day one. And with recent polls that have Brownback trailing Democratic challenger Paul Davis, who's the desperate one here, Sam?
