MIC money funnel | we have better things that need doing
Rachel Maddow and her team did some poking around and uncovered a story that heretofore seems to have flown under the radar.
We spent half a billion $ dollars to help beef up Afghanistan Air Force only to have it shredded for scrap.
General Stanley McChrystal; commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan:
"..Following the example of this effort to launch the C-27 Fleet we can look forward to the day that Afghanistan, like this aircraft, will take off under its own power to fly through peaceful skies."

Sixteen C-27's (G222) refurbished and repurposed by private contractors were scrapped and sold for 6 cents a pound which came to a total of $32,000 dollars according to a report by the special Inspector general in charge of overseeing the reconstruction spending in Afghanistan.
Private military contractors made a bundle, but that's about it.
I suppose it's a good thing that these planes didn't disappear like pallets carrying 8.7 $ billion dollars in cash (Cenk Uygur | July 27, 2010 - video), but were scrapped rather than possibly becoming the next target of American forces in the region.
Thirteen years and counting..
