I just spent a couple of hours with my wife this Sunday afternoon canvassing for, Martha Coakley, our Democratic candidate for Governor here in Massachusetts. As has been widely reported, we have a tight race. I am glad to report that we had a good group out this afternoon from our campaign office in the western suburbs and friends in Cambridge are reporting strong numbers of canvassers.
It was a special day to canvass because it was the 60th birthday of the Iron Woman of political canvassing in Massachusetts, Kate Donaghue, who has knocked on more than twenty five thousand doors. Kate vowed to inspire or recruit sixty more people to go door to door this weekend in honor of her 60th birthday and I think she likely achieved that goal based on the turnout at our office in Maynard, Massachusetts.
Friday the Boston Globe ran a story about Kate on the front page of the metro section and I think it is worth sharing with the Daily Kos community.

I know there are people like Kate all over the country doing the hard work to elect progressive candidates and a lot of them are Kossacks. We have sixteen days left to make sure that we do everything we can to elect progressive Democrats.
