The above title is something I hear quite a bit from family members. Though as much as I'd like to run for even a local office, I know full well I'd never win because Brevard County, FL is wingnut territory. But that isn't the only reason.
If I were to run for office, I'd need someone to speak for me because I'd be downright terrible when it comes to campaign slogans and one liners. That and all the good ones were corrupted by slimy individuals like Rick Scott and company.
And since I have no experience as a CEO or a manager or other private sector experience, I'd never be taken seriously when it comes to the county's economic issues. I'm also sure that since I'm a nobody, I'd get nothing in campaign donations. Even if I do get some, I'd have to be willing to 'play ball' once I do get elected.
I might stand a small chance with the disability vote, because I understand what it's like to have disability services slashed to line the pockets of corporate cronies and would fight like hell to have those funds restored and expanded to give our overworked social and Voc Rehab workers a little extra help. Lord knows they need it badly.
But for now, I think I'll avoid running, thanks.
See you around,
Homer
