He has inadvertently revealed the existence of a nest of vipers in my back yard. I was watching his most recent attack ad, to see who was paying to air the bullshit. Turns out it was Corbett's campaign paying.
It's seemingly straightforward; just citing five "facts", with source references. How can that be deceptive?
Well, lets have a look behind the curtain.
The apparently innocuous reference citing the Patriot News reporting the results of a poll conveniently omits the newspaper's parenthetical disclaimer that the poll is from
"(a conservative polling group)."
Next comes the claim that his plan, discussed on camera with KDKA-TV, was a "secret plan to raise middle-class taxes". Some secret. And I'm curious, when did natural gas production companies join the middle class?
The source for the claim that the plan hikes "the personal tax rate by 188%"? The Commonwealth Foundation? It's a member of the State Policy Network(SPN), a mutant offspring of ALEC, with Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation and SPN as listed donors, and the Hon. Patrick J. Toomey as a Director Emeritus.
Now comes the really insidious part.
The Pottstown Mercury guest column quoted as saying, "Wolf tax plan bad for PA"? Written by Tracy C. Miller
"associate professor of economics at Grove City College and fellow for economic theory and policy with The Center for Vision & Values.",
which is a
nest of beneficiaries of Koch largesse.
It's sad to see a nearby institution of higher learning corrupted by the Kochs, but at least now I can add them to my list of known Koch propaganda sources.
