A large majority of minimum wage workers are adults, and around one in four have children. Some of the fastest-growing industries in the country, like home health care and fast food, pay the minimum wage or just above. That means some of the fastest-growing industries in the country are paying a wage too low to support a family,
forcing many workers to rely on government assistance. Next week, though, voters in four states will
have the chance to vote minimum wage workers a raise:
Notably, these are all heavily Republican states, meaning that a ballot vote is likely the only way the minimum wage will be increased, since legislative action is ... unlikely.
The minimum wage sure won't be raised by Republican politicians, so please give $3 to help elect a Daily Kos-endorsed Democrat.

Of course, Congress could give these workers and millions more a raise by increasing the federal minimum wage, but that's not going to happen as long as Republicans control either house of Congress.
