While at LA Pride this past summer, California's 28th congressional district (Hollywood area) Congressman Adam Schiff refused to engage in questions about the government's persecution of notable LGBT public figures Chelsea Manning and journalist Glenn Greenwald. He stated that he was just at the event to party and then proceeded to take a selfie with an event attendee.
Schiff is up for reelection in the November mid term election. His district is so heavily learning towards the Democratic Party that the Republican Party did not bother running a candidate against him during California's open primary which was voted on in June. Schiff is challenged by Steve Stokes - one of the rare independent candidates to advance to the general election under California's open primary / top 2 election system. However, it appears as though Stokes does not have the finances to run a viable election against Schiff since there is almost no media coverage of his candidacy and little activity on his social media sites.
Steve Stokes is however willing to talk about the issues that Adam Schiff was apparently uninterested in.
