I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.
Due to the weather this morning in New England - cold and windy, there wasn't much going on at the Sunday flea market. I decided to stop at the Nathan Hale Cemetery in Coventry on my way back home. I thought you might enjoy seeing a few photographs I took.
The Nathan Hale Cemetery is located in a very historic neighborhood on Lake Wangumbaug in Coventry, Connecticut.
Nathan Hale's body has never been located. His family built the huge monument seen below in the 1840s in his memory. Many of Hale's family are buried here as the Hale family homestead is still located close by. Hale has long been considered an American hero and, in 1985, he was officially designated the state hero of Connecticut.
Many of the tombstones are from the 1700s
There are even granite stairs to access the lake from the cemetery.
If I had known I would be posting here, I would have taken more photographs.
