David Perdue
David Perdue
really can't help himself, can he? The Georgia Republican has taken a serious hit in Senate polling as voters have learned the details of his long and lucrative career in outsourcing. You'd think he'd want to stay quiet and not offer up any more damaging quotes, but no. Here he is, right before Election Day, and:
He faced another press question on the topic this morning, particularly as to why he gave a flat “no” when asked if he outsourced jobs when his companies did close plants as he increased jobs overseas. Said Perdue:
“Sure, we closed down plants all the time. I mean, but it was never in direct relationship to things going on offshore.”
Riiiight. Who knows, maybe Perdue is deep enough in denial that he can't see the link between shifting production overseas and closing plants all the time. But probably this is more evidence of just how stupid he thinks voters are, something he's shown
time and
time again, even directly saying that people were upset over his outsourcing career
because of ignorance.
But come on. Here's a guy who says, right before a very tight election, "Sure, we closed plants all the time." And he thinks other people are the stupid ones? If there's a run-off election, as seems likely, how many ads do you think are going to feature that quote?

I'm sorry, I can't make phone calls, but I will chip in $3 to Daily Kos to help fuel Get Out The Vote efforts.
"Sure, we closed plants all the time." Now elect me, Georgia voters!
