I guess it is because an election is upon us that we currently (I seem to currently) run into a variety of comments or posts or messages about GOTV and, in particualar the old "what's the difference?" stuff.
I do, sometimes wonder. However.....it dont take long to get serious about the differences - the actual real diffrences, which I will not catalog here.
In all seriousness, I vote against republicans - I couldn't care less if thre is a "better" person for the job with a R by their name: I don't believe it.
That's not to say I "like" the Democratic party. There's a lot to not like.
And THAT often makes me question myself: Am I actually being TOO harsh on republicans? I mean, I think they want most Americans to drop dead, they work so hard to keep them sick, and hungry, and poor.
Over the Orange Chronosynclastic Infundibulum™.
Nope.
I have never, ever been too harsh or mean in my assessment of Republicanus Americonus.
Democratic conduct, while irritating to me, is far, far different than republican conduct.
And that brings me to this, again from Raw Story. I peruse the news and this crap just jumps out at me, screaming.
2 candidates are having a debate. Both are well-off, both had boats.
Both were asked about the name of their respective boats.
The Democrat noted his boat was named what it was when he bought and he never lifted a finger to change it. It was "Sapphire" and devoid of drama.
What about the Republican?
Well, as you know, they cannot possibly do ANYTHING correctly: His is named after a sex slave
Foley explained that he named his yacht “Odalisque” because he was inspired by artwork.
“I’m a great enjoyer of the arts and culture and Odalisque are the names of many great paintings, including the masterwork by Ingres, they were used as models by Mattisse, so it was named for that,” Foley said.
“So it’s a highbrow name?” Davis asked.
“No, I think it is a very nice name. Boats usually have a female name associated with them because the gender of boats historically was a she. Many people name their boats after women or something feminine. Odalisque really means a beautiful woman, a beautiful thing in the art world. It doesn’t mean a sex slave,” Foley said.
Wikipedia:
Odalisque
The word "odalisque" is French in form and originates from the Turkish odalık, meaning "chambermaid", from oda, "chamber" or "room". It can also be transliterated odahlic, odalisk, and odaliq.
Joan DelPlato has described the term's shift in meaning from Turkish to English and French:
The English and French term odalisque (rarely odalique) derives from the Turkish 'oda', meaning "chamber"; thus an odalisque originally meant a chamber girl or attendant. In western usage, the term has come to refer specifically to the harem concubine. By the eighteenth century the term odalisque referred to the eroticized artistic genre in which a nominally eastern woman lies on her side on display for the spectator.[1]
Ergo, yet one more full-of-shit heinously wealthy republican liar with a misogynistic value system so deep he can't begin to see it.
Republicans have this trait, a mix of callousness, incompetence with women, mixed with a masterful absence of contact with the Real World most people live in. And it often comes with a set of latent sociopathic traits.
On the contrary, I can barely think up Deocratic politicians who are this ugly, aloof and tone-deaf.
I rarely, if ever, hear about them being charged with rape but republicans do with some regularity.
This past Friday Billy Joe Turnage, the chairman of the Union County Republican Party, was arrested for aggravated sexual battery and an attempt to commit rape.
That was October 29th.
Democrats just don't seem to be bent like that.
