This election taught me I spend too much time on politics...most of the country is just “a pox on both of their houses”
This election taught me I was a sucker when I turned out to vote. My first vote was for Mondale and until Obama I never voted for a winning candidate (and he never won a state I lived in). I still haven’t voted for a winner in a statewide or local election. And I have been voting for thirty years. It really wasn't worth the time I had to take off work to drive and stand in line to vote.
This election taught me that most of my fellow citizens have given up. It has become a brand war. Apple or Microsoft, Ford or Chevy, Republicans or Democrats this dancing star against another, this brand of beer, brand of politics, brand of hotdog, this brand of nothing, whatever it is, the whole damn country has been sold to for so many years they have quit listening, or only listen to the brands they like, the closest comparison is sports team against sports team.
This election taught me that labor, farm, environmentalists, women and minorities just don’t give a damn about what happens to them because if they had stood together they would win together.
This election taught me that unless there is a candidate nationally, statewide, or locally that can actually stand for something, do something…I am wasting my time. Fuck it, without politics I will have time on my hands. To all you young women out there….can’t wait to see what happens when you or a friend is faced with tough reproductive choices…I am really too old to give a damn anymore. My age group has already faced those choices…not my battle anymore if you can’t show up. To all you second genners, why should I give a crap about immigration if your own people don’t show up, why should I care about it? I showed up to vote for it but you didn’t. To all you blacks…really something like thirty percent of you bothered to vote, why should I show up if you don’t ? If every fucking eligible voter in Ferguson wasn’t at the polls today, why should I give a shit? To all you environmentalist…where the hell were you in this election? I was voting in an area that includes the Bakken oil fields, xl pipeline, sage grouse and should the feds give states our public lands and other environmental issues, yet the only yard signs, people knocking on doors, calling were republicans talking about “freedom” and jobs, and how abortion and gays, and environmentalists were the beginning of the end for America. Fuck it.
Today I learned the 1% really does own us. It hurts but it is true. Still too damn old to give a shit, been fighting battles a long time. Today I learned I was not fighting I was just tipping windmills.
Today, I decided I would give no time and no money to any political cause ever again.
So again I say fuck it, run Hillary as a so called democrat, she is center right just like Obama, and what good is that for our country? Me, I plan on quitting the internet, dropping the papers I subscribe to and instead I will read a book a day, go work at my job and spend time with the family. Fuck Politics. Fuck knocking on doors, fuck sending ten bucks that I could use for something for my family just fuck it. For those that remain good luck. I hope you can make a difference. I hope but I don’t believe, and I can’t sell what I don’t believe.
Ko’s delete my account!!
Ps. Can anyone tell me how to get off all the damn mailing lists? Like my ten bucks makes a difference.
