In Australia, the television equivalent of
Today is fittingly enough, called
Today and is hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson.
About a year ago, competitor and friend of Stefanovic, Samantha Armytage, was the subject of the News Corp tabloid, the Daily Telegraph, which "dredged up old photographs of Armytage running errands in comfortable clothes, then published them because ... well, the purpose of the story was never entirely clear."
It bothered Stefanovic enough that he decided to try an experiment: he would wear the same suit every day to see if anyone noticed.
A year went by. No one did.
So he announced it himself.
"Women are judged much more harshly and keenly for what they do, what they say and what they wear," he said.
"I'm judged on my interviews, my appalling sense of humour—on how I do my job, basically. Whereas women are quite often judged on what they're wearing or how their hair is ... that's [what I wanted to test].
His co-host had often been the subject of emails due to her attire, mostly from women, although she stated that they had been overwhelmingly supportive.

He did get a tweet from Kristina Keneally:
Former NSW premier Kristina Keneally thanked him on Twitter, while posting a tabloid headline from her time in office that screamed: "Premier Keneally wears the same dress twice."
The reporter asked "... what was [she] thinking?" and suggested that "... a fresh new frock ... could have been arranged".
