The International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (the international body that putatively oversees said fisheries with an eye to preserving minimum safe stocks) has increased the quotas for Atlantic Bluefin tuna (already extinct in the Black Sea). This has upset a lot of conservationists who feel that this will put population recovery at risk. This comes at a time when the Pacific Bluefin Tuna is also at risk (currently listed as vulnerable by the IUCN linky).
