Every time I hear someone talking about President Obama "overreaching" or "acting autocratic" or any of the other phrases that pop up what I hear is "the BOY don't know his place."
I grew up surrounded by racists - not family but they were fairly prevalant in the town I grew up in - I'm fairly used to the types of things people like this say. You may not recognize it as racism simply because you expect someone who can work in the digital age to be someone who is more open-minded but the truth is that tech became easy enough for the morons to use.
The truth is that he has issued less executive orders than most. Here's a sampling (source: The American Presidency Project at UCSB):
Nixon - 346
Reagan - 381
Clinton - 364
Eisehnower - 484
Truman - 907
Carter - 320
FDR - 3522
Teddy Roosevelt - 1081
Hoover - 968
Bush II - 291
So far Obama has issued 168 (possibly 169 by this time tomorrow). If he continues at the current pace he will rank 3rd from last in terms of executive orders issued, behind Grover Cleveland (253) and Chester A. Arthur (98). Face it, no one is catching Chester A. Arthur.
You may not LIKE the executive orders he's been issuing and plans to issue. That's fine. That's worthy of debate. But it seems to me that not only does the President understand how much power he can wield, he in fact uses it more sparingly than most of his predecessors. He is not a tyrant, and he hasn't been acting like one.
So what is your REAL problem?
