Has anyone watched Steve Kornacki? Anyone? Well I have been watching him since he has been on MSNBC. As a commentator he is good. He's well spoken, articulate, and well informed. However, his shows almost ALWAYS speak of a weakening Democratic party. Just this morning (11-23-14, Sunday), he had NBC political reporter Beth Fouhy. While on his show, she suggested, no asserted total doom and gloom for Democrats. She also mentioned that ALL of the diversity and youth, in this last election, was on the Republican side. Really?? ALL of it? I was left scratching my head. Did I miss something in the last election? I really don't think that is the case, at all. So why did she say it? And why didn't Kornacki rebuff it? It almost seems like the (new) media narrative is to demoralize democrats. And, if you don't see the election as a total rejection of the democrats, and Obama, then you are either delusional, or a cheerleader for the president.
I don't think there was much we could do in the last election. We were going to lose. The republicans got 52% of the vote, in an election with extremely low turnout. And now we are being told that the Democratic party is old, not diverse enough, and out of favor with the public. What?? Has anyone seen the House leadership? And where are all of these young people in the Republican party? That seems to be another media narrative, that young people, Millennials, are breaking toward the republican party. It started as wishful thinking in republican circles, then, surprise, now its a steady narrative in the media.
I think there is something worse (after) this midterm, than what happened after the last midterm. The narrative is turning against us. Even on MSNBC, we are seeing a steady drip of demoralizing news, on a daily basis. I have also noticed that MSNBC is having more and more, conservative commentators on lately. Are they changing philosophy? Sorry for this jumbled Diary. I am just frustrated. And as for Kornacki, he might as well be a republican, because he never stands up for anything remotely progressive. And he is a constant source of demoralizing democratic news.
