Last year was bad, but this year is worse. Not only did that hallowed and holy Christmas Shopping season begin just after Halloween last year, this year it started in early October. Bill Maher warned us last year when he noted how Christmas was swallowing other holidays: "Halloween, watch your back".
This year Halloween was swallowed whole by Christmas.

Christmas carols have been playing in stores since early October. Shopping channels have had Christmas decorations displayed for nearly 2 months now. And even more workers were forced to work unnecessarily on Thanksgiving when they should have spent their day with family and friends.
"Black Friday", the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season on the day after Thanksgiving, has consumed the entire week of Thanksgiving with the holiday itself becoming just another work day for people already too poorly paid to support their families without government assistance.
Bah, Humbug!
It's not the fault of Christmas, though. It's a lovely holiday where Christians get to pretend that theirs is the one and only religion on the planet. Everyone else eats Chinese food and goes to the movies.
It's really the fault of greedy retailers and their insatiable obsession for liberating every single penny from every single person who has any money at all. It's Christmas Shopping that is gobbling up the rest of the holidays. Christmas is as much a victim as Thanksgiving and, now, Halloween.
Considering all that insatiable greed, I now warn Labor Day. Labor Day, watch your back. Christmas is coming to eat you.
