It's been nearly a year and a half since I had an actual job and frankly I'm at the point where putting in any effort to even find a job means absolutely nothing. My mother-in-law has a few ideas, among them training in medical billing.
I've rejected this idea because I could train for things until the cows come home and by the time I go looking for a job, the market for the things I've trained for is gone. Or worse, the requirements for the jobs that are available are so ridiculous I don't even bother applying. Most jobs that required an associate's degree now 'require' a bachelor's. Give it time and I guarantee they'll require a master's or doctoral for a position that's just busy work.
Even when I get an interview, it goes nowhere. I've actually had a few this year and got either no call back. Even when I do get one it's just to let me know they've hired someone else.
I do have a small photo and VHS business going but there isn't much of a market for that either. I suppose I could have started this five or six years ago but most everything is digital now. Some people still ask for this service but that seems to be very rare, not to mention I don't have the funds for better advertising.
So far I put a 3 week ad in the Thrifty Nickel and have only gotten a single call. They said they were going to organize some stuff for their husband's birthday next year and then get in touch again but I have yet to hear back.
Like I keep saying, I'll just humor everyone but I'm not holding my breath.
See you around,
Homer
