OK, warning: if current events, or personal events, or what you had for lunch is already making you a little queasy, you will not want to follow me beyond the orange tub of ipecac to view what may be the most cringeworthy bit of political -- advertising? cheerleading? really, I don't know what to call it -- ever. And I mean ever.
Behold, the Stand with Hillary country music video:
When you've finished hurling, feel free to read on.
I. mean. W.T.F.?
Here's how it came to be: a pro-Hillary super-PAC produced it: www.tennessean.com...
I don't know, what, if anything, Hillary herself has to do with this, but it is so resonant with the worst Clintonian politics: the pandering, the triangulation toward a demographic the pollsters think she needs, the utter condescension toward that demographic. It's just stunning.
My favorite lyrics:
I'm thinkin about one great lady
Like the women in my life:
She's a mother and a daughter
And through it all
She's a lovin wife
W.T.F.
I'm sure Hillary herself totally relates to this style of music, and listens to it regularly. And I'm sure it will spread like wildfire among its target audience.
Now: of course, how bad this video is has nothing to do with the relative merits of supporting her candidacy. But there has to be at least a few de-merits for whoever has inflicted this terrible, terrible thing on the world...
