The Fox Cycle: From bogus right-wing attack to mainstream news
by Simon Maloy, mediamatters.org -- July 12, 2010
1. Right-wing bloggers, talk radio hosts, and other conservative media outlets start promoting and distorting the story.
2. Fox News picks up the story and gives it heavy, one-sided coverage.
3. Fox News and conservative media attack the "liberal media" for ignoring the distorted story.
4. Mainstream media outlets eventually cover the story, echoing the right-wing distortions.
5. Fox News receives credit for promoting the story.
6. The story is later proven to be false or wildly misleading, long after damage is done.
You know what step is always missing, after the Fox Damage is done ... Step 7:
7. Fox News corrects the record regarding its fabricated and wildly false coverage.
No correction for their unproven Benghazi accusations.
No correction for their unproven IRS accusations.
No correction for their unproven Ebola accusations.
No correction for their unproven ACA accusations.
No correction for their unproven Torture Works accusations.
Fox News knows how to make up their false outrage stories -- they just don't know how to take them back, when they are ultimately proven wrong.
Correcting their hysterical record of "crying wolf" -- is NOT one of the formula steps -- that it takes to be them ... you know, Wrong!
This is 'Still True after all these Years' -- Fox News is still Wrong and they still don't care:
"They Distort; and THEY Decide." ( ... that's still true too.)
