"The presentation of one's own interpretation as objective truth is traditionally known as 'preaching'".

I'm not sure if Pataki, Giuiliani and police officials are just flat out ignorant of the roots of their recent rhetoric, or if they are intentionally fanning the flames of race war. Either way, we're getting close to the edge of the precipice.
Cooler, more intelligent heads need to prevail here, and soon.
if our President "must do" something, he should make a brief statement indicating "leaders" like Pataki and Giuiliani must tone down their rhetoric; peaceful protesters need to be able to continue their protests unimpeded.
I'm about half-way through Ms. Stangneth's excellent, thorough investigation of the person that one of the officials at the Nuremberg Trials called "the most sinister figure in this century".
Even just half way thru this book, several things are disturbingly, stunningly clear. The recent rhetoric and behavior of Mr. Giuliani, Pataki, police officials, police union officials is more or less the same as those who carried out Hitler's "final solution"; the hideous genocide of Germany's and Europe's Jewish people.
I'm sorry to have to go there but this, along with the purposeful spread of deceitful, anti-protester propaganda by the Baltimore Fox News affiliate-- is very disturbing and should be of concern to all peace loving people.
Consider their rhetoric: the feeble attempt to justify the summary killing of brown/black people by police across our nation with statements like: "Well, black on black crime! they kill each other!" so it's really not so bad the police are killing them, right? This is the same effort as the Nazis to dehumanize an entire group of people. the need to dehumanize the other in order to justify abusing and killing them.
Their explicit acceptance of total lack of accountability of police officers who kill innocent people by our white "leadership" is another indicator of the much larger problem. and their total denial of causality factors like redlining and segregation which dehumanizes brown/black people.
Their active effort to portray the police as victims of something or other; while more or less denying the feelings of the families and the people in general regarding the numerous police killings of citizens of our nation.
Adolph Eichmann was not brought before the Nuremberg Tribunal. he first, then his family made it to Argentina where they lived rather well. In 1956, Eichmann, ever the arrogant, scheming doofus, actually thought he and his family would be allowed return to Germany-- where he'd be allowed to "collect his pension like other officials involved in the war".
He started to write two books; he was "tired of being the victim" of the "lies, and propaganda" being spread about him and his role in the Holocaust. He needed to "set everything straight once and for all". his so called books were total garbage. a lame attempt to deny and deflect from his hideous crimes. and here's where it starts to sound very familiar in regard to the current rhetoric: Eichmann went so far as to blame the Jews for what happened to them.
The current sad, pathetic rationale by some in our nation; "black on black crime!" as some sort of justification for the high level of profiling of and police violence committed against innocent people is very hard to distinguish from that used by the raving psychopath Eichmann.
All of this is of course beyond unacceptable and intolerable.
This business is not really clear to me at all. Hannah Arendt
