Is the Revolutionary Communist Party USA a major force in the movement seeking justice in the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner & others, and an end to police brutality?
For The Heritage Foundation, the right-wing's most powerful Washington, D.C.-based think tank, the answer appears to be a resounding "Yes." In a story headlined "Meet the Communist Group at the Michael Brown and Eric Garner Protests," Heritage's Melissa Quinn goes "balls to the wall" to discredit the movement by arguing that the Revolutionary Communist Party USA, founded by Bob Avakian in 1973, is a major force in the movement.
Most folks following conservative movements know The Heritage Foundation as a longtime powerful Washington, D.C.-based right-wing think tank. Sure there "research" has always been suspect, but they have been an extraordinarily influential voice for more than forty years & there's no doubt they will have a big influence on the Republican-controlled Congress.
The Heritage Foundation is now headed by former South Carolina Republican Senator Jim DeMint. Last year, I wrote a piece titled "DeMint's Domain: The Heritage Foundation at Forty," which discussed the organization's prospects after DeMint was named the organization's president: http://www.smirkingchimp.com/...
For those with an interest in the history of the foundation can check out a piece I wrote in 2008, when it was celebrating it's 35th year: https://zcomm.org/...
