Pamena's Report:
Not a lot to report this week - we did a guild LFR Thursday night, it was fast and pretty easy, and we got to see a couple more bosses plus collect Abrogator's Stones for those on the ring quest, so a fun time. Team PM will officially get going this coming Tuesday night Dec. 30th with our new lineup - right now we have 14 people, which is about the limit of how many I would like to bring in as a team. Almost everyone on the team is at or above item level 630, except Dkosmama who has been very busy with Santa duties and has not had time to play much these last couple of weeks, so I hope we will have a fun and smooth time in normal mode on the first two bosses at least, and perhaps further.
It's been a fun time for the Wreck List the last few weeks - a number of new and returning guildies who we are so glad to have back with us have been playing recently, and we usually have anywhere from 15 to 55 guild members on at any one time. Happy Holiday season to everyone!
Team PM got going Tuesday night (Dec. 30th) with an almost full roster with the sad exception of Dkosmama whose internet went out that morning so that she was not able to join us. After most of us joined Nina's group for the world boss, we recovened at Highmaul, and went to battle on normal mode against Kargath and the Butcher. We intend to do heroics as soon as we're geared, but I wanted to see first, what adjustments needed to be made to raid composition for a smaller group than we've done these bosses on previously in Nina's flexorama, and second, how far we are from being able to do heroic damage and healing without the "training wheels" we've had in flexorama with Team Kaels folks in the group.
We had 14 players in the raid, and Kargath was not much trouble - we 3 healed it (Lasira stepped up and got her holy spec ready so she could be the 3rd healer in addition to Pamena and Rhetorica), and one-shot it, no real issues. The Butcher, however, was a bit of a different story - we came very close on the first pull, about 10%, but then were not getting that close on subsequent pulls. We tried some different positioning, but finally decided we needed a 4th healer. Luckily, Halitosis has a holy priest spec, so he switched to heals, and did a fabulous job - we did still had "a few deaths", but we got the Butcher down. It was close to 10:30 at that point, and we decided to determine - for science! - whether you have to kill Kargath on heroic in order to farm the trash after him on heroic. Turns out yes, you do, and nobody felt like tackling heroic that minute, so we called it for an early night.
It was a fun night, and we have a great, relaxed group of folks, so that despite wipes on a boss we all thought we should have one shot, there was no tension, just everyone trying to figure out how to get the job done, which to me is the really fun part of raiding. We also have a very flexible group, as several people have alts or specs that they can switch to if the raid needs more heals or different dps, so I am looking forward to working our way thru the Draenor raids with this team! And we hope Dkosmama's internet issues will be resolved by next Tuesday (we're not doing a run on New Year's Day) so that she can join us for a try at heroic Kargath!
