Warning, lots of pictures ahead of a head. Teehee.
This is the tile mural that started it all. We bought this 12 tile mural in the early 1990's. It sat in a box in various closets over the years until 2009 when I retired. Then I decided it was time to do the bathroom.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group gives Kossacks a safe place to check in, a daily diary where we can let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It also allows us to find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a Kosmail and ask to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
We do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

The rest of the story with pictures follows below.
That mural was the first reference item I bought. The next was this print.
I would take it with me when I looked at paint chips or accessories. If the color was not in this print, it was not going in my bathroom. It kept me on the beam.
Then, I saw this cabinet. It did not have the sink. When I saw that sink, I was smitten!
From there, it all came together.
I designed the two cabinets, this short one I actually made out of foam core, full size and gave it to Mr Zen to build. Whenever he had a question, I referred him to the model because we have problems communicating on a technical level.
This picture shows the sink cabinet with backsplash, the tall cabinet and the very cool mirror my daughter picked out.
This picture shows the subway tiles, the little glass blocks at the outer edges and the paint. The walls are a buttery white, the ceiling is a darker tan, and the woodwork top and bottom are kind of teal. The tiles are white and multi colored glass blocks both in the shower and behind the sink.
This is a shot from the door into the tiny room.
Almost everything you see, I did. I had the tub and some floor joists replaced by a pro and had the walls plastered where I removed old tile that was not replaced. Other than that, I did all the tile in the shower, sink back splash, and floor. I bought a tile saw to cut it all. I did all the paint. I cut all the moldings, crown and floor. They are all mitered properly too! I bought a chop saw. The floor tiles are 22 in sq set on point and not all level but once one was down, it was not coming back up for love nor money! The towels are buttery white shells embroidered on them. I also had the toilet put in but it came from my sister's remodel job. The original fixtures were PINK for gawd's sake.
I love this bathroom now and gaze lovingly at the tile when I shower. The little glass blocks are such gems in all that white. I need to get better jars for the cabinet with the glass in it so it looks better. But that is for another day.
