Bradley Knudson making his heartfelt plea to protect his daughter
Yesterday we highlighted the plight of Minnesota dad Bradley Knudson (pictured above), whose now-viral video
called out the father of twin boys who were bullying his African-American daughter with racists messages on Snapchat. The father of the twin boys, Deron Puro, went on his own hateful, racist rant when contacted by Bradley Knudson.
Well, things move quickly in the world of social media. As of yesterday, the father in question is no longer employed:
The father of the boys, Deron Puro, was an independent contractor, and his employer confirmed to Fox 9 on Wednesday that he is no longer associated with that company as of Jan. 21.
The father isn't the only one feeling the heat today:
Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools said they are still investigating if this was a situation isolated to one day, or if this has been ongoing. They added there could be some sort of punishment for the boys but have not elaborated on what that would entail.
Assistant superintendent Jeff Holmberg said as soon as the school district learned of the video Tuesday afternoon, a two-part investigation was launched.
At first glance, it appears the boys violated the
Minnesota Safe and Supportive School Act:
Section 1. [121A.031] SCHOOL STUDENT BULLYING POLICY.
1.9 Subdivision 1. Student bullying policy; scope and application. (a) This section
1.10 applies to bullying by a student against another student enrolled in a public school and
1.11 which occurs:
...............
1.17 (3) by use of electronic technology and communications off the school premises to the extent such use substantially and materially disrupts student learning or the school environment.
Actions have consequences. Especially in a world of Snapchat, Youtube and Facebook.
