Homeless count increases by over 20 percent in King County http://mynorthwest.com/...
Slightly less than 4,000 people were counted in tents, sidewalks, outside last night
In Seattle. My son is one of them. He sleeps in the bushes with other people very
Close to where the Superbowl bound Seahawks play.People pay hundreds of dollars per game and a lucky few will pay thousands to travel to Arizona to watch the Superbowl.
My son slept in a tent once with a 41-year-old man who thought he was Jesus. A 21 year
Old girl slept in the camp and would offer sex to anyone for crack cocaine. She has disappeared, and no one seems to care. My 68-year-old lady friend knows a lady who
Once worked for Google and Microsoft. The poor lady's husband beat her up and soon
The house they lived in was gone. The homeless lady lives on Social Security. There are
no apartments for less than a thousand dollars, unless your willing to live in a rat-infested apartment.
Rents are increasing in Seattle. Facebook soon will have 900 more employees here. They will join Google, Amazon, Microsoft, to name but a few tech firms here. This fact means
more expensive apartments,
Seattle is said to be the fastest growing city in America; Our infrastructure is broken
And politicians seem to be able to do yell at each other. A new bridge is being
built to drive back and forth between Seattle and the Eastside.
Our city is a stark example of two worlds in Puget Sound, which includes Seattle.
Tacoma and other cities in the area.
A right-wing talk show host blames the increase on our legalization of marijuana.
His example was a story about a happy homeless person in Denver who told a radio
Host he was happy homeless as long as he could smoke "pot" legally. Your right, Denver was where the man talked. So the same must be true here as well.
No, I don't see the logic but Republican's do.
There are now over 14.000 families waiting at least five years for public housing.
I'm worried about where the once middle class will go for housing around here; I'm
depressed the best Mental Health treatment my son ever received was when he was
In jail. No new mental hospitals are being built, my son sees Seattle Mental court
Once a month. Men are seen everywhere begging with a sign which says Army Vet.
Follow me will you?
Seattle can be a depressing place in winter. Watching homeless folks sleep in the rain
is obscene. The rich folks should be proud of They've accomplished. Now millions need
to be spent on decent living and health care for all here. One round-trip to the Super
Bowl could provide food and at least some homeless.
I am working trying to find a group home for my son. He is furious with me because I
was able to get his Social Security money handed over to a neutral payee. I'm making
it hard for him to buy drugs.Thousands more folks like my son need to live in a society
that will stick with the person until he or she is off the streets, in housing or a hospital.
You or someone you know could be homeless sleeping in the bushes in the rain tonight.
How can we as a society not deal with this?
-Seven out of 10 people
are one paycheck away from being homeless.
