Susan Sarandon, Alan Alda, and Tony Danza are Late Late Show guests tonight, with host Martin Short. I'm sorry, I haven't been watching, but you can, here http://www.cbs.com/....
A week ago I was worrying about my mom, my daughter, my job, my cat, my friend who's having neck surgery, my town, my planet, and the gunk-covered birds in the bay. There's been some relief; my daughter doesn't seem to have flu, and my friend's neck surgery went well. I'm still super worried about the other items though. Some unidentified gunk has been greasing up seabirds in SF Bay and hundreds have died. I'm barely keeping my head above water at work. At least there I know what to do, even if there is too much of it.
And my mom is really losing her memory, and I have to get her to the eye doctor. Of course she won't wear her hearing aids and she never will. I took her to dinner Saturday. It was tough to find a restaurant with a table for us with no reservation -- lesson learned, and it was tough to find parking too. I pulled the car up by the ramp, got Ma inside and seated at the last open two-top, and went back out to park in a legal space, which took almost 10 minutes. When I returned to the restaurant, Mom was sitting in a booth big enough for six. I asked her if she decided to move by herself, and it took some time for her to understand what I was asking, because she could neither hear nor see to read my lips. When she finally understood, she replied angrily that she had not moved. I went to apologize to the young host who was flustered and didn't know what to do about Mom, but was happier when I apologized, and the manager showed us to our original table. There Mom started in with her customary over-familiar comments to a lady at the next table. And a family of 6 was seated in the booth. The dinner was okay, but she didn't eat much, and of course conversation was out of the question. We were both exhausted at the end.
In case you missed it, sad tidings about a sometime Venthooligan are here. Cedwyn is very sick.
