By the time you read this, I'll be back at home in Portland, having spent my Monday traveling back from visiting my younger son for the holidays in Hawaii. It's been nice to have escaped a little of the colder winter weather, but I'm awfully glad to be heading home, if truth be known.
Since I gave ruleoflaw my "regular" 3rd Tuesday, I needed to take his "regular" 4th Tuesday, so below the orange dingbat, find my poetic thoughts this time around.
Kalliope
Means "beautiful voice" from Greek καλλος (kallos) "beauty" and οψ (ops) "voice". In Greek mythology she was a goddess of epic poetry and eloquence, one of the nine Muses.
Join us every Tuesday afternoon at the Daily Kos community political poetry club.
Your own poetry is always welcome in the comments.
Bongos, berets & turtle neck sweaters optional.
The keyboard is mightier than the sword.
Coming Home Again
So tired, still bleary
Though home in own bed.
The quiet--so blissful
There are smiles in my head.
Soon will see sweetheart
Missed for some time.
Shop together; while mundane
Quiet joy sublime.
No more roosters crowing
All hours day and night
Surf will be missed
Still, chores will delight,
Done in own place
Still messy, but mine.
Vacations are nice
Yet home's best, I'll opine!
