They're not going to let him at their podium, after this.
Looks like Indiana Gov. Mike Pence might have taken himself out of the running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. Because his state just struck a deal with the Obama administration to
bring the evil Medicaid expansion to his state.
The state will begin taking applications today for its so-called HIP 2.0 plan, for which coverage begins Feb. 1, Gov. Mike Pence announced Tuesday morning at a packed speech at St. Vincent Health. […]
The approval is a big win for Pence, who had resisted expanding traditional Medicaid as called for under the federal Affordable Care Act. After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled two years ago that Congress couldn't require the Medicaid expansion, Indiana and other states began proposing hybrid programs that used federal dollars in new ways.
Pence said he continues to believe the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, should be repealed. But he said the approval of his Medicaid alternative makes this "great day" for Indiana and for Hoosiers.
Somehow I don't think that disclaimer about how he still believes the law should be repealed will be enough for the GOP primary voter, no matter how much
his brand-new Pence-centric news outlet spins it.
The Medicaid expansion will cover people in the gap, below 138 percent of the federal poverty level but above the level for traditional Medicaid. These new enrollees will have some cost-sharing, between $3 and $25 in premium payments. The Medicaid plan provides dental and vision benefits, as well comprehensive prescription drug benefits.
