Why we shouldn't shrug off the latest pipeline spill(s) http://www.mnn.com/... via @MotherNatureNe
Keystone XL oil pipeline – everything you need to know http://gu.com/...
I know the Superbowl is on today. I live in the Seattle area, so of course I'll have it on.
I'm just not one of those folks who lives and dies with their favorite teams record. My
Life stays the same even if my team loses. It's great to live in a Country that you can go
To the movies or a game. Many countries don't have that available. So enjoy today.
Even with moderate Dementia, I seem to be able to write and have the game on at the same time.
Very soon now Congress will pass the Keystone pipeline. There is a debate over how many jobs construction will bring. I have heard few as 20,000 or lower.
I 've also heard there maybe as many as 50,000 added.Of course, I want jobs for all folks
Who want to work, but at what cost? We are thinking about building something we don't need.
If spilled, it can take years to clean up. Some experts say spills are never totally cleaned up. Montana and North Dakota have had recent spills.
The pipeline isn't built yet, but we have many pipelines already.Think of Nature and Wildlife
When you decide if you want this pipeline built. Think of trains carrying the oil. Think about living in an area that you can't shower or wash dishes. Bottled water manufacturers
must love the idea of more spills. Our nation needs to pour millions into clean energy.I'll
be gone but Nature is unforgiving. I want people a hundred years from now to know some
folks did all they could to keep our land as clean and pure as possible. Republican leaders
are bought and paid for so we as Progressives need to speak loudly against this bill.
Support the President when he vetoes this bill.Republicans's say they're within four votes of overriding the promised veto. Some Democrats will vote for the pipeline. Claire
McCaskill from Missouri is one of them.I would love folks who live in her state to ask her
why she voted yes.
Rich Republican's seem fine with something that could hurt our land. I would vote no if'
if I was told there is any chance oil from Canada might spill. If we as a nation don't need
the oil, why take any chances?
We live in a time when Republican's seem fine with hurting Women's rights, the right to marry the person you love. Everyone having health coverage, rolling back voting rights
which people died to make voting okay. They don't want to stop even with the possibility
of our precious land being harmed. I didn't say just Republican leaders.People had to elect
them.
Now is the time to raise hell: If not us, whom?
