Fibromyalgia is a pain disorder; not even a disease. Multiple Sclerosis is a disease which was identified as such in 1846. It is a disease of the central nervous system. It is a disabling disease. It messes with your brain.
So why is it easier to get SSI (Supplemental Security Income) from the government for Fibromyalgia than it is for Multiple Sclerosis?
Big Pharma invented Fibromyalgia to go along with a medication used to treat it. It is a disorder, because they cannot call it a disease.
I have a disease called Multiple Sclerosis. Unlike with Fibromyalgia, it can be tested for, treated and not faked. Yet, I am not accepted for an SSI award, but anyone with a doctor who claims Fibromyalgia can get an award? What is that all about?
I know people who get SSI for Fibromyalgia. I personally know them. I have Multiple Sclerosis and I've been denied. I went through some pretty awful tests to find out what is wrong with me. Spinal taps are miserable. But I did it to learn why I can't walk a straight line, or make it to the bathroom all of the time, or think clearly all of the time, or drive a car, or ride a bike. The MRI and the spinal tap conclusively indicate that I have this disease. It is not a disorder, but an honest to goodness disease. So why am I being denied the help I need?
When I wrote to the president to ask why, he forwarded my letter to the Social Security Administration. However, when the SSA contacted my local branch office, in Montose, Colorado, the Montrose people lied to the head people in the SSA.
Montrose told the big wigs that I never filed for an appeal. That was a lie. I filed an appeal the day after I got my denial. (Six months ago) They even sent me a CD containing my case file records and all of the medical information on me. Why would they do that if I had not filed for an appeal? I figure they sent me all that information so that I would not file duplicate evidence.
And this begs yet another question. Are they freely giving my personal information to anyone who claims to be me?
I am ill and having a hard time of it. I have been a tax payer for more than 30 years. I want my day in court!
And to all the liars and cheaters of the system, You people make it harder for the rest of us honest people.
Someone in Montrose dropped the ball and I am the one who is lied about and left to fall through the cracks. They are covering their collective butts by making it my fault.
Why is Multiple Sclerosis on the government's list of disabling diseases, yet a person who has it is denied help?
