On Tuesday night, Team Kaels went in to try to repeat our Gruul kill of last week. It was, uh, grueling. Part of the issue was that I kept messing up the taunting timing, part of the issue was missing our incredibly beautiful and talented disc priest, Chanta. Kaels ran off to Org to make an emergency backup disc spec. Eventually the pieces fell in place, I pushed the right buttons in the right order, and the monster died. We finished the night by killing Darmac in normal mode, just so we would have practice for our next boss kill.
On Wednesday night, we came back to Darmac in heroic mode, fortified with the return of Chanta. It was tough, we messed up the beast order a few times, spears pinned people down, there was fire everywhere. So much fire, people burning, blow all your cooldowns then blow them again… and we won. So now Team Kaels is now 2/10 BrF heroic, and eager for the next challenge.
Despite moving from Tuesdays to Wednesdays, the flexorama raid was well attended. I actually worried I might have to split the raid, but we came in at just under the limit. We repeated our kill of Gruul, although it was once again grueling. I was preparing a last second paladin bubble solo soak of the Inferno Slash, but he transitioned, people stayed away from the rocks falling from the ceiling, and he fell to our combined might.
I then took the group to meet Hans’gar and Franz’ok. Yes, there is now a Warcraft raid encounter based on a 25 year old parody of Arnold Schwartzenegger. One wonders why it took the WoW designers so long, actually, they love their cultural references. Anyhow, many people have reported issues with motion sickness in this encounter – there are lots of conveyer belts, and sudden stamps that mess with your camera angles. I was particularly worried about one of our raiders who has a chronic inner ear disease that makes him prone to vertigo – the Grimrail Depot dungeon was particularly difficult for him. We talked before the raid about the encounter and came up with plans for how to deal with any issues he encountered. We agreed that if he started feeling ill he should look away from the monitor and we would tell him when the motion stopped. I think he was most surprised at all when he lived past the first environmental hazards phase and went on to finish (most of) the fight with us! Hans and Franz proved to be too puny for our mighty pumptitude, and much loot was had by all.
