I love my family, that seems logical.
I love my partner, more deeply than I can ever hope to express.
Do I love my country? Hmmm.
Can I love a geography? Well the Green Mountains are pretty familiar and I enjoy walking in them. The Brittany coast is delightful.
Can I love a man made construct as in the concept of country? Not sure at all.
Do I love our political system, probably not, but it is better than many.
Does waving a flag make me feel different, no.
I cant even say that saying I'm American makes me feel any emotion whatsoever, it's a statement of fact.
I really don't get this, do you love your country as an emotional discourse. Do I have to say I love my country so as not to appear to be a threat? If I travel to another country, should I date it first or can I love it right away, and if I don't like the food, hate it?
Loving a country seems a little absurd when you get right down to it, what does it actually mean? Wanting its people to do well, wanting everyone treated equally, and wanting everyone to live in peace? Do I have to say I love it, otherwise I must hate it? How does anyone love it more than someone else?
Same goes for Patriotic sentiments, which ones, what are you actually being patriotic about, the soccer team or cruise missiles?
Do I Love my country, do I feel patriotic about it?
Depends which bits, all in all I would say it's pretty good as countries go, it has some interesting geography, natural resources and I do miss the winter snows.
So the only way I can grasp this is as some form of competition. Yet I'm having problems with the scoring system.
Stars and Stripes Bikini: 2 points?
Flag actually made in America and of pure cotton: 3 points?
Not screaming USA USA at the drop of a hat: -10 points?
I really don't know how to run the I love America Most Pageant.
Dear lord there is only one conclusion, I must be unAmerican/unFrench/unIrish.
How many Patriot points have I lost?
