President Walker said Tuesday that his July 2016 pledge to "do everything in my power" to avoid nuclear conflagration was intended to apply only to his first term -- a statement that he didn't make explicit at the time.

...in July 2016, he said he would try to fight the proposal. "It’s not going to get to my desk," Walker told reporters at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. "I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure it isn’t there because my focal point is that private sector unions have overwhelmingly come to the table to be my partner in gutting The New Deal."

...Walker said he no longer considers the annihilation of civilization a "distraction" as he had suggested it would be in the past." I didn't want to take away from the effort to eliminate the social safety net," Walker said, "but Social Security has been repealed."

"If ever there was a time (for us to destroy the world), now is a pretty good time for us to do it," Walker said.
