Received two e-mails today regarding the Maryland U.S. Senate Race. First from PCCC:
Hi, this is Carrie.
I first met Donna Edwards when she ran for Congress against a Wall Street Democrat in 2008. I was so impressed by her passion and her commitment to big progressive ideas that I knocked on doors for her campaign.
When I moved from Washington D.C. to Colmar Manor, Maryland, I deliberately bought a home in Congresswoman Donna Edwards' district. That's how highly I think of her.
With U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski's retirement, I think Donna should run for the U.S. Senate.
Can you join me in urging her to run?
Donna was the first member of Congress to introduce a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.
She led the National Network to End Domestic Violence. And Donna agrees with Elizabeth Warren that we should expand Social Security benefits -- never cut them.
In my diverse community, I've seen people struggle with foreclosure and the economic downturn. Donna's leadership has been so important to us. She identifies with working people.
Like Massachusetts, a state as blue as Maryland can give the nation the gift of a bold progressive leader.
Yesterday on MSNBC, Donna said, "If I were to do it, it would be because I see a pathway to victory."
Please show Donna she'll have a grassroots pathway to victory if she runs. Help send another bold progressive to the Senate.

When the PCCC asked Maryland members if Donna should run, a whopping 80% said yes!
Multiple good candidates may enter the race. I'm proud to stand with the PCCC, Democracy for America, Blue America, and many Maryland progressives who want Donna to be one of them -- she's a rising progressive star, and I'm ready to work my heart out for her.
But Donna needs to decide soon. The media will undoubtedly report on this grassroots effort, and Donna's paying attention. Now's the time -- please add your voice to mine.

The next one came from Democracy for America:
Did you see the big news that came out of Maryland on Monday?
Senator Barbara Mikulski from Maryland announced that she will not run for reelection in 2016. After 30 years of extraordinary service as a feminist trailblazer in Congress, Sen. Mikulski's voice will be missed.
Now the question is, who should replace her? Strong progressive voices in the Senate have the ability to change the way we talk about policy and politics in important ways -- just ask Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
Fortunately, according to 74% of Democracy for America's members in Maryland who we surveyed on Tuesday, the answer is obvious: Rep. Donna Edwards.
Maryland progressives are behind Donna. And so are our friends and allies at the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Blue America. The PCCC polled their Maryland members as well on Tuesday -- and the results were also overwhelmingly in favor of drafting Donna Edwards. That's why, together, we're getting behind Donna today.
Will you join us? Click here to add your name to Draft Donna -- and let her know that she has a nation of DFA members behind her.

In 2008, DFA helped Donna become the first African American woman to represent Maryland in Congress because she has a strong progressive vision for an economy that works for everyone. Rep. Donna Edwards is the perfect fit to follow in Sen. Mikulski's footsteps -- which is why progressives are rallying to draft her into the race.
On Wednesday, Donna said on MSNBC that "I'm seriously considering it. And, you know, I think it’s important to follow on (Sen. Mikulski's) legacy of leadership for women and leadership in the Congress. … I think I could fill that bill."
But Donna hasn't made a decision yet -- and she is definitely not the only Democrat considering jumping in. That's why she needs your support now.
If we want to elect a strong progressive to this U.S. Senate seat in 2016 -- we need to stand up immediately and show Donna Edwards right now that DFA members want her in and will have her back in a tough primary fight.
Can you get Donna's back? Add your name now to Draft Donna and help us build momentum for her potential campaign ASAP.

Donna Edwards and DFA go way back. Donna's first campaign was a classic example of why primaries matter: DFA members fought alongside her to defeat corrupt corporate Democrat Al Wynn. Donna hired local DFA members into leadership positions on her campaign staff, local DFA volunteers knocked on doors and made calls to win, and DFA members nationwide chipped in to fuel the campaign.
Donna has been a progressive leader in Congress ever since. She's a bold progressive who steps up for big fights and doesn't back down in the face of Republicans or under pressure from Democratic leadership. Donna Edwards has a vision for a progressive America and the backbone to fight for it.
As the longest-serving woman in Congress, Sen. Mikulski has fought to elect more women at all levels of office. It's up to us to make sure Barbara's replacement continues that fight -- and there is no better way to do it than by electing another tough Democratic woman like Donna Edwards. She has already worked hard as co-chair of the DCCC's Red to Blue program to recruit progressives to run in key races. She will inspire other women to serve just like Sen. Mikulski did.
We need to show Rep. Edwards right now that DFA members across the country are ready and willing to fight to help her win -- because, like Elizabeth Warren, she's ready to fight for us. Take Social Security, for example. Donna Edwards agrees with Elizabeth Warren that we should expand Social Security benefits -- and never cut them. It's unclear if other potential candidates considering a run will take the same strong stand on behalf of working families.
If you want to see Sen. Mikulski's Senate seat go to a strong progressive woman who will stand up for expanding Social Security, don't wait: Add your name now to Draft Donna and help Rep. Edwards get the head start she needs to win.
