The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals stayed a ruling Thursday by a federal judge that found Nebraska's ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. Same-sex marriages were set to begin next Monday. Robynn Tysver
reports:
The court did not give any reason for its decision, merely issuing a single-paragraph ruling.
In it, the court indicated the Nebraska case will be consolidated with three other gay-marriage cases, set to be heard by the 8th Circuit Court in May.
The ruling may effectively mean that the issue will be settled by the U.S. Supreme Court, which is expected to issue a decision in June that could have national implications.
