Americans may be
yawning over Eghazi, but House Speaker John Boehner is
going to keep flogging it:
"The American people deserve all the facts about what happened in Benghazi. That's why it's so important for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to turn over her personal server to a neutral third party," Boehner said at a news conference.
"I think that is the fairest way to make sure that we have all the documents that belong to the public, and ultimately all the facts."
It's hard to pick out the stupidest thing about this, but in the running has to be the fact that, if Clinton had had separate work and personal email accounts or if she'd had a dozen highly specific email accounts, she would still have been making decisions every single day about what emails should be put in the work category and treated accordingly by the government. But somehow because all the emails were sent on a personal account, some stranger should be sent to look through every email Clinton ever sent, however personal? Maybe they should also get to look through her underwear drawer while they're at it? There might be a Benghazi note hidden somewhere in there. And how is this "neutral third party" going to be chosen? By House Republicans?
But obviously, having a stranger going through every email Clinton ever sent, however personal, is the Republican dream, particularly if that stranger or their staff was leak-prone. Gosh, Boehner's demand isn't transparent at all!
