In the face of an onslaught of judicial rulings that found same-sex marriage bans unconstitutional, Republicans have begun opting for other unconstitutional measures to prevent marriage equality. These not-so-creative attempts at ensuring that not everyone shares the same rights have run the gamut of stupidity, but the Idaho state House’s attempt to impeach judges who rule in favor of equality is downright ignorant.
The fight against gay marriage rights has taken on a darker tone. From one attorney trying to legalize the killing of LGBT individuals in the streets to Oklahoma potentially legalizing polygamy — that slippery slope Republicans were always worried about — in an effort to prevent same-sex unions, these attempts are getting sickening.
The Idaho House, though, essentially just pissed on the Constitution. The resolution passed by Republicans on March 20 demands that the U.S. Congress impeach federal judges whose decisions fall on the side of marriage equality.
