Come oh come ye tea-thirsty restless ones -- the kettle boils, bubbles and sings, musically. ~ Rabindranath Tagore
Good evening, Kibitzers! Although we haven't stopped getting icy cold weather here, at least it seems to have left off snowing. Many days are above freezing, and only shady spots (like our front yard) retain their snow cover. Well, except for the neighborhood Giant Heap o' Snow down the street, seen above. I wasn't paying attention, but I think it might have been a giant snowman at one point, who has since lost his head. It's still pretty impressive.
There are a few more pictures below the dead leaf hopeful orange bud.
Apparently, calcium chloride ice-melt stuff can form attractive crystalline patterns like these on flagstone. At first I thought it was frost, but then I realized it had been 40° for several hours.
Our front yard is the place for crocuses but, as mentioned, it's in the shade and still has at least six inches of snow -- more where the crocuses should be, because they're right where snow shoveled from the walk was piled. I'd been thinking we had no flower buds yet. Then I walked around the side and found snowdrops coming up, and in back, in the sun, daffodils are making good progress among the last leaves that didn't get raked before it started snowing.
That's what I've got! The end of this week is supposed to be warmer and rainy, so perhaps we'll melt down to the crocuses soon. Do you still have snow? Are you on the cusp like this? Or do you have beautiful flowers already blooming?

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
